Christmas light installation questions, answered
What areas do you serve?
Southern Lights installs Christmas lights in Knoxville and the surrounding East Tennessee towns, including Farragut, Hardin Valley, Karns, Oak Ridge, Lenoir City, Maryville, Seymour, Kodak and Dandridge. If your home is close to one of these towns but not listed, send a quote request and ask whether we can reach you.
When will my Christmas lights be installed?
Your install date is set after you place your order and pay the deposit, and installs typically happen in October or November. You can request a specific day, and we will schedule it if that day is available. Book early, because the Knoxville holiday season gets busy.
How long does installation take?
Installation takes one day. The work is exterior only, so you do not need to be home while the crew is at your house. Our crew arrives in Southern Lights gear with ladders and, for taller homes, a boom lift, and hangs your custom-fit C9 lights along the roofline.
When do the lights come down?
Takedowns are done by zones around Knoxville, and all homes are typically finished by the end of January. You do not need to be home for takedown. Once the lights are down, they go into secure storage, ready to go back up on your home next year.
How long does takedown take?
Takedown takes one day per home. Like installation, it is exterior only, so you do not need to be home while the crew works. After the crew removes your Christmas lights, they are packed into secure storage so they are ready for the following season.
How do I place an order, and how does the deposit work?
To order, pay a 50% deposit on any major credit or debit card. The balance is due on your installation date. Your lights are custom-fit to your home, so we set your install date after the order and deposit are in. Request a quote to get started.
Can I cancel my order?
You can cancel any time before installation. Your deposit is refunded minus a 30% restocking fee, because the lights are customized to fit your home. Once the lights are installed on your home, no refund is available, so please reach out before install day if plans change.
What if some of my lights stop working?
If any of your lights stop working, minor maintenance is provided at no charge. Let Southern Lights know which section of your Knoxville home has gone dark and we will take care of it. Your lights are custom-fit to your home, so repairs stay simple.
